Obedience to Serve

The call to serve, and obey God must be consistent if we are to be relevant in the Kingdom of God. Keeping God’s commandments require an understanding that we will be under attack by the enemy daily. It is true if the evil one is not disrupting our walk, than more than likely we have abandoned no longer walking with God! In our text today, Joshua briefly restates the central message conveyed by Moses to the Israelites that: Obedience should be based on their love for God always.

Saints of God sometimes we can get so focus on the battle we forget what we are fighting for. The Israelites had completed their military responsibility, now Joshua reminds them and us today that we must now focus intently on our spiritual responsibility to God, and love, walk, and serve Him with a spirit of gratitude and praise!

It is like any competition we can sometimes think so much about what we are to do, that we neglect thinking about who we are serving as children of God. If we know we are God’s children, we will demonstrate our love for Him and joyfully serve Him. We must not let daily service take away from our love for God. For if we are serving to get praise or accolades, then our service is in vain; as we are trying to take God’s glory for ourselves. Therefore, let us serve with a pure heart and a right spirit! For God all by Himself is worthy of our love and praise! The Word of God.

Joshua 22:5 NIV

"But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul."
