Mendenhall is a city in Simpson County, Mississippi. The population of some 2,504. It is the county seat of Simpson County part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mendenhall was originally called Edna, to honor the wife of developer Phillip Didlake. After learning that a town with that name already existed in Mississippi, the city had its name changed to Mendenhall to honor Thomas Mendenhall, a citizen and lawyer from Westville, Mississippi. Located off highway 49, 25 miles south of Jackson, Mendenhall has friendly citizens, low crime rate, recreational

opportunities, affordable housing, and

small-town atmosphere making a great

place to visit, live, and community to serve.

The community is full of friendly people

who will welcome all with warm hearts.

SSOJ takes great joy in celebrating God's

purposes.  Short-term teams are welcomed

at the Mendenhall Ministries Volunteer

Center. Their meals are served, and lodging

provided in their spacious bunk areas.

Awaken to collective and individual daily

devotions. As a member of this missions

experience you will impact the community

and foster hope within this rural population.

Partnership founded on biblical truth makes

way for tangible transformation. SSOJ delights

in celebrating God’s provision. On previous visits to Mendenhall, SSOJ teams were blessed to distribute hundreds of gift bags throughout the community. Donations from individuals and partnering churches were received and allowed for a generous outpouring of love to and from the residents. Calling all Moms, Dads, Youth leaders, Youth, and Young Adults!
