Yet another sleepless night…, your mind focusing on the “What ifs?” …, or, the pain that has your stomach tied up in knots… What do you do when you’re frozen, exhausted, or you just don’t know what to do?
The Psalmist tells us to “Cast your burden on the LORD…”. What does that mean? When a fisherman goes fishing to catch the big one, he doesn't just drop the line in the water, he leans his rod back and throws the line out into the deep water. The LORD would like you to “cast” (fill in the blank) as far as you can in the deep water and release it to Him.
Next, the Psalmist goes on to say He, the LORD, will “sustain” you. The New Oxford Dictionary defines sustain as a verb meaning to strengthen, or support physically, or mentally; bear the weight without breaking, or falling.
When you cast , you can trust that the LORD, alone, will uphold you and not allow you to slip, fall, or fail. Let’s go fishing because we know there is Someone who really cares!
