The Unseen War

There are some fights that make headlines—and others that shape history. One of the most grueling battles ever witnessed took place in 1975: The Thrilla in Manila. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier fought with such intensity that both men nearly collapsed from sheer exhaustion. Ali later said it was the closest he had ever come to dying.

But while that match shook the boxing world, there’s a greater fight happening every day that many people never see—a war more dangerous than anything that’s made it to the ring.

It’s the Unseen War.

We’re not talking about missiles, protests, or political strife. This war is spiritual. Invisible to the natural eye, but deeply felt in the soul. It’s a battle that rages in the mind, in relationships, in identity, and in faith.

God Is Real — And So Is the Enemy

Scripture doesn’t sugarcoat reality. In Ephesians 6:12, Paul writes:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

There’s a real enemy—Satan—whose mission is clear: to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He operates through lies, temptation, confusion, and fear. And yet, in a world of growing skepticism, people often dismiss him as folklore.

But if we deny the existence of the enemy, we let down our guard. And if we deny the power of God, we lose the very source of our strength.

You Were Born Into a Battle Y'all

Whether you realize it or not, you were born into this war. Each day, you face choices—will you walk in truth or fall for deception? Will you stand in faith or retreat in fear?

This isn’t about paranoia. It’s about preparation. God has given us everything we need to stand firm:

  • Truth to anchor us

  • Righteousness to guard our hearts

  • Faith to extinguish lies

  • Prayer to stay connected to our Commander

  • His Word to fight back

And most importantly, He’s given us victory through Jesus Christ.

The War Is Real—But So Is the Victory

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to live in fear. You don’t fight for victory—you fight from it. Colossians 2:15 tells us that Jesus has already “disarmed the powers and authorities” and triumphed over them on the cross.

The battle is still active, but the outcome is already determined. The enemy may be loud—but he’s defeated. And our Redeemer reigns.

Are You Awake to the War?

It’s time to stop living casually in a world of spiritual conflict. It’s time to armor up. To draw near to God. To resist the enemy. To wake up to the war—and walk in the victory that’s already been won.

Reflection:

  • Am I living with spiritual awareness—or spiritual apathy?

  • Have I been denying the presence of the enemy or the power of God?

  • What armor do I need to put on today to stand firm?
