The SON brought the SUN

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

Let me take a moment to testify. I know the One who preserved me in the storm that devastated the city of Little Rock, AR. It is the Lord Jesus Christ! He is the God of the storms, natural and spiritual. I know it was not luck that kept me safe. By faith, He preserved and kept me safe.

On March 30, 2023, I was at work when the notice of the early dismissal was announced. The sun was shining bright and there was no sign of a storm. My thought was, “Peace be still, in the name of Jesus.” As time passed, it appeared that was just not a safety precaution. I left work around noon. By the time I left work and stopped by the bank to make a deposit, the sun was hidden by the clouds, and it started to rain. The bank employees pulled up the weather report and noticed a severe storm was headed our way. I made my transaction and headed straight home.

I thought to myself, “Lord, I trust You to protect me and to keep me safe. I am safe in Your hands.” Around 2:30 pm, tornado sirens sounded and the storm rain began to hit. I remember having peace, no fear. I felt safe and protected. I knew the Lord was with me, and I had nothing to worry about. Within the moments of the storm striking, the power went out and sirens sounded all around. I remember looking outside the window and then calmly sat down and waited for the storm to pass. The worst of the storm lasted about 5 minutes. The sirens continued to sound, and another siren sounded around 3:15 pm. After the storm, the sun came out. The SON brought out the SUN.

It looked like the power would not come back until the next day. This is a minor inconvenience that I was willing to wait on. I prayed and asked the Lord to protect my car and preserve my food. When I looked outside, my car was fine, and the Lord brought the power back on that same day! Praise the Lord! He is so faithful in every situation.

As the storm ended and passed on, what came to mind was preparation. The Lord showed me how He WILL supernaturally preserve and protect us in the midst of destruction and calamity. Also, it is important to get prepared because this also showed me this is not going to be the last time something like this happens. In situations like these, I realized it is only me and God and my relationship with Him. He is the Only One I can trust and rely on in times of adversity and calamity. My relationship with Jesus Christ is real and tangible and was made known in this storm. Let us remember, the most valuable thing we have is our soul. We must not lose focus of God's real purpose and plan for our lives.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever more (Hebrews 13:8). We must build our faith in the Person of Jesus Christ in order to overcome the days that are coming ahead. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ today and trust Him like you trust a parachute. This is how we will be able to endure to the end. Amen! God bless you!
