Clean House, Lord.

Matthew 21:12–13 (NIV) “Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there… ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

Matthew 21:18–19 (NIV) “Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves… ‘May you never bear fruit again!’”

Father,

We come before You not just to be inspired but to be transformed. As we reflect on this moment in Your Word, give us the courage to see ourselves clearly. Search us. Examine us. Reveal anything in us that does not honor You.

Jesus, You didn’t just come to be praised you came to purify. So today, we open our hearts and say: have Your way.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Clean House, Lord”

Theme: When Jesus Comes Close, He Confronts What Doesn’t Belong

Palm Sunday was full of praise “Hosanna! "But by Monday, Jesus is flipping tables.

That’s a shift many people aren’t ready for.

We love a Savior who celebrates us…But struggle with a Savior who confronts us.

When Jesus entered the temple, He wasn’t reacting emotionally, He was responding intentionally. The temple had become busy… but not holy. Active… but not aligned. Religious… but not righteous. And then there’s the fig tree. From a distance, it looked fruitful. Up close, it was empty.

That’s the warning.

God is not impressed with appearances; He inspects for fruit.

Holy Monday reminds us:

Jesus doesn’t just want access to your life; He wants authority in your life.

Imagine someone comes over to your house unexpectedly someone you deeply respect. You welcome them in… but there are areas you quickly try to close off:

“Don’t go in that room.”

“Ignore that mess.”

Now flip that.

What if instead you said: "Come in and feel free to clean anything that’s out of order.”

That’s uncomfortable… but that’s discipleship.

Many of us want Jesus in the living room of our lives But Holy Monday shows us He’s heading straight for the temple courts.

He’s asking:

What’s cluttering your heart?

What’s making noise where there should be prayer?

Where are you showing leaves but lacking fruit?

Real growth begins when you stop managing your image and start surrendering your heart.

Now, let's reflect:

What “tables” in my life might Jesus want to overturn? (habits, attitudes, distractions)

Where am I displaying “leaves” (appearance) without real fruit?

Is my life truly a house of prayer, or just a place of activity?

What is one area I need to fully surrender to Jesus today?

If Jesus is welcomed as King, He must also be trusted as Cleanser.

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for loving us enough not to leave us as we are.

Today, we give You permission not just to enter but to cleanse. Turn over anything in us that dishonors You. Remove what doesn’t belong.

Create in us clean hearts. Restore right motives. Produce real fruit.

Make our lives a true house of prayer.

And give us the humility to welcome Your correction Because we trust Your love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
