A Daily Check-In with God

Dear Lord, as I come before You today, I open my heart and mind to Your presence. Help me to be honest about how I feel and to bring those feelings into Your loving care. Guide me in Your truth, comfort me where I am weary, and fill me with Your peace. May this time of reflection draw me closer to You and strengthen my faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Psalm 139

The All-Knowing, Ever-Present God

Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away. You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, Lord. You have encircled me; you have placed your hand on me. This wondrous knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it.

Reflection

Every day, we wake up with a different measure of how we feel—sometimes a ten, full of joy and energy; other times a one, burdened by life's challenges. Most often, we find ourselves somewhere in between. This simple question—"On a scale of one to ten, how do you feel?"—can be a powerful tool for spiritual reflection. It invites us to pause, acknowledge our feelings, and bring them before God.

Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. If I fly on the wings of the dawn and settle down on the western horizon, 10 even there your hand will lead me; your right hand will hold on to me.11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light around me will be night”—12 even the darkness is not dark to you. The night shines like the day; darkness and light are alike to you.

Insight

When we honestly assess where we are, we invite God into our reality. Whether we’re at a low point or a high one, God wants to meet us there. If you're feeling like a seven today, it's a reminder that God sees your efforts, your struggles, and your joys. It's in these middle-ground moments that we often find the most growth and the most reliance on His strength.

13 For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know th

is very well. 15 My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.

Application

Take a moment each day to ask yourself how you're feeling on that scale. Then, bring that number before God in prayer. If you're at a ten, thank Him for the abundance of His blessings. If you're at a one, seek His comfort and strength. And if you're somewhere in between, invite Him to guide you and show you how to grow through that moment.

17 God, how precious your thoughts are to me; how vast their sum is! 18 If I counted them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; when I wake up, I am still with you.

19 God, if only you would kill the wicked—you bloodthirsty men, stay away from me—20 who invoke you deceitfully. Your enemies swear by you falsely. 21 Lord, don’t I hate those who hate you, and detest those who rebel against you? I hate them with extreme hatred; I consider them my enemies.

23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.

Heavenly Father, thank You for meeting me exactly where I am. Whether I'm feeling high or low, help me to trust in Your presence and Your plan. Search my heart, calm my anxious thoughts, and lead me in Your everlasting way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
